No thongs after 6pm.

   just to hose everyone down, this probably means in the British/Australian sense where thongs are things for your feet, not for your ass. Flip-flops or something, I believe you ‘mericans call them.

    Karan is correct………in Australia we also used to refer to thongs (flip flops) as “Japanese Riding Boots”………In a country (Australia) where riding boots are distinctively present (cuban, half cuban or standard low heeled varieties included) the ‘riding boot’ refernce was not pejorative but simply intended to refer to the ‘working footwear’ of the Japanese………..I understand (without guaranteeing the accuracey of it) that the phrase was coined by WWII Diggers.

    OK…….Bebe………what is it saying? I’ve travelled extensively in Australia and seen similar signs often in country areas………this is not unusual, particularly in hotel lounges and restaurants……….it’s a dress code …….. So…………What does it say Bebe? Put your money where your mouth is (that’s another Aussie saying I learned early in the piece 😀

    By 6:00pm my thong is chaffing something fierce anyway. I wonder… do you supose they have a “thong room” for those who inadvertantly show up after 6 in a thong? (“Check your thong sir?”) How would you tip for something like that?

    A beach restaurant, thongs and singlets are bathing suits. but i’ll bet the footwear can be thongs. I tried the stilettos thing at the beach once, thongs are much better.
