    Hmmm, that was…strange.

Oh, and what the hell is a Nixie clock?:!:

  2. Spud

I think I can safely gather from that sign, that the train may be late…

    💡

  3. Just by looking at this sign, I am falling in love with Toronto. At least your public transpiration authorities have the civility to tell the passenger that it will be late at all time. Here in New York it is a daily practice to see 3 buses (or subway) to pull up at the stop (1 early by fifteen minutes 1 off by couple of minutes and another late by fifteen minutes).

If it wasn’t for the bitter winter and lack of delis I would of retire there in an instant.

  4. Oh, this is the Sarnia train station. The Toronto train stations hire agencies to typeset their signs and generally run a spell-checker first.

To your points Ospirin, winter in Toronto is identical to winter in Detroit, which is slightly less harsh than New York’s. Sadly, there are few delis, but they have hundreds of excellent pubs, sushi bars, patisseries and (nearly) as many freaks to watch as Royal Oak. So yes, you can retire there.

  6. Ahh, the TRAIN and its unique environment. To be aboard the London-Oakville train again, marvelling at every detail of the coach, comparing it to my DAD’s rec-room.
We used to have an uncle by the name of Charly. Or that’s what we said. Uncle Charly left us all sorts of nick-nacks and what-nots — and a strange array of material — fixtures, sheets, coverings that my Dad used to build the rec-room back on Trudale Court. Some of the items had his initials on them: CNR.
Charles Norman Rust was generous: Dad always got the stuff he needed. Often, I would note a similarity of material in a train station to a particular detail in the rec-room, and I would always remember Uncle Charly…

  7. Oh boy ~ I guess I was under wrong impression since the whole north east was quite cold during ’89~95 (visited there winter of ’92).

Thank you Dave~ freak watching are one of my favorite hobby, do you know if there are any central gathering spot in Toronto? I think I might visit there next summer.

  8. Kensington Market is good. So good it should be renamed Goblin Market.

  9. (Note to my self: Dave just said the Royal Oak, you knockle head)

  10. Sorry, just checked, Royal Oak is in Ottawa.

  11. Woozle

Would the train be late if they had a Nixie watch?

  12. Lace Valentine

However, the Narnia train will always be the early bird, rarely late, and children always ride free.

The 6.15pm for Dartpool leaves on platform No:9 at 6.37pm not to be confused with the 6.37pm from Dartpool which arrives on platform 6 at 6.57pm, if everything is running to schedule.

Otherwise there will a bulletin posted on platform 7 at 7 minute intervals every half hour.

    Thankyou

  14. I used to hang out at the Royal Oak pub near the University of Ottawa.

Now I hang out in Royal Oak, Michigan. Confusing, isn’t it? 😛

Toronto has a few good delis, like Yitz’s. I haven’t been there in a while, but I know it’s still there because it’s the kind of place that never goes away. There’s also a Yitz’s Humidor.
