Rest in peace, St. Augustine

RIP Augustine, 1998-2005

[1998-2005]

This weekend while I was in Toronto, my cats managed to open the screen door and get onto the balcony. When I came home, the youngest one was nowhere to be found. Tuesday night I found him huddled and shaking under a bush. He died Wednesday evening from internal injuries (he fell two stories onto some rocks). I am taking a few days off. Please understand.

πŸ™ I am sorry to hear about your loss. Pets are truly pieces of families and it’s always difficult when you lose them. I hope that you are able to find solace.

  2. Susan

How awful – I’m sorry for your loss. My condolences.

  3. So sorry to hear about your loss. Cats are very special, loving members of our families, aren’t they?

We have five now, out of a succession of many over the years. Our last was Einstein, to bladder cancer. Whenever we lose one to accident or illness, it is losing a beloved member of our family.

I grieve with you over Saint Augustine. His pictures are beautiful.

You know, we believe that when the Lord returns, all things will live again. So will all our little friends (who says animals have no souls?) You will recognize us when you see us, for we will likely be surrounded by a hundred cats and dogs.

    love and condolences,
    Roger Born

  4. Oh my god, that is awful. We just got a kitten and now I’ll never feel the same. 😳

  5. I’m so sorry. He was such a special cat. I’ll miss his little squeaks.

  6. Seeing a cat die is horrible. Now I feel bad for calling cats “furry bastards” in the comments of a previous Davezilla post.

  7. Aw geeze, Dave. I am so sorry.

I hope Saint Augie has all the catnip and rubber mice he could hope for.

Excuse me, I have to go dry my eyes and blow my nose.

I’m sorry to hear about your loss. He/she looks so much like my cat, and I know I would be heart-broken if anything were to happen to her-they really do become a part of your family, almost like your children.

    Oh! What a horrible tragedy.

    I send you my sympathy.

  14. Ack. Sorry to hear about that! Having just lost a pet recently I feel your pain. Being such a funny person normally, humor probably doesn’t help right now, so take all the time you need. We understand.

I’m sorry to hear that. St. Augustine looked like such a nice, and well-named, cat. πŸ™

  24. I know he has just jumped out of the Heavenly Kat-litter box (eternally Klean!) and is sitting in his namesake’s lap, curled up and purring away, probably salivating with his tongue stuck out a centimeter, doing the milk-tread with his claws, secretly listening for Saint Peter to open another kan of Whiskas…

On behalf of the Clan of the Cat (Sadie, Zippy, Rumba, Fillipe, Little P and Dancer) please accept our sincere condolences. Our minister has guaranteed that animals go to heaven, for without our beloved pets it would be no heaven to us. =^ ^=

Your cat looks close to mine.
I may not like my cat but I would be lost without her, as I am sure you are now.
    Sorry for the loss

How unfortunate. Thoughts are with you.

I know how terrible it is. I’ve lost many a pet in my life. Actually, he looks just like this cat I had who I recently lost to bone cancer.

You are a very lucky person to have so many people that respect you, that you haven’t even met, all caring about your loss. When my cat died, only a few of my closest friends gave anything resembling a crap.

    My condolences.

Condolences just ain’t enough, but you’ve got mine.

I am so sorry to hear about precious little St. Augustine. He was a cute little guy, and I’m sure you loved him very much. I’m also sure he knew how much you loved him, especially at the end.

My condolences. I hope you find comfort in your other cats and with Natalie. God bless.

  34. πŸ™ I can relate. Take your time. We understand. Hugs and kisses.

  35. Thank you everyone for your kind words and support. I really appreciate it.

My other cat, Jade says, “mrrrriiiioowwww?” which I believe means, “Thank you and send catnip.”

  36. Dave,

My kitty at University did an 8 floor swan dive but miraculously lived (he landed in a nice soft evergreen). My condolences, keep him in your heart and he hasn’t gone anywhere.

I feel for you, I think most of us have had this happen. Not only are they like family, they are true friends. I feel more for my 2 than I do for alot of the people I meet. Sorry, man.

  41. Kimberly

    πŸ™ Sorry.

  42. A few minutes ago, I thought that my cat had escaped through the street wiindow. I was thinking he would never be able to come back. A few minutes later, however he came back through the garden door.

This is the second my-cat-just-died post I read, just after the return of my cat. I do think this is no random.

My thoughts are with you. I don’t know how I would handle the loss of my cat.

  43. Mandy

    Aww Dave. So sorry! :kiss::kiss::kiss:
